Changing Default Language for Text-Boxes in InDesign - Liam Dempsey

How can I solve the problem? Please give me positive solution. I suspect that the fonts you are using do not have the appropriate OpenType features. The only solution is to use Indian fonts with OpenType features, because that is the only kind of fonts that InDesign supports for complex scripts.

The default font for summit is Geetanjalilight for Assamese and it is a non Unicode font. We are using non unicode assamese font for book layout and text.

So please solve the problem in that case. I am using CS5 and I can not find the info. In InDesign CS6 you will have to activate the appropriate World Ready composer via the Paragraph palette options to activate shaping for Indian scripts.

This post is in regards to InDesign only. I create books in Indesign with Latin this could be a huge help! When renaming files what do you do with languages without a country like Latin La code.

What is ISO country code? Will it matter? Try without the country code and see if it works. I used IT Italy as the country code and it works great. It was great to see my Latin words happy with the spell checker! Thank-you very much for making this How-to available. So, anyone can help me on it? InDesign CS5. Thanks for asking. I learned today that this was caused by a recent change to Acrobat. I have updated the links. Please try again. Apologies for the inconvenience. You can programmatically create paragraph styles that use the world ready composer, allowing you to typeset Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Devangari-like languages, and a ton of other more complex scripts.

I thought the script still worked in CS5. Not sure, sorry. If the file comes up damaged in OSX 9. Please log in again. The login page will open in a new tab. When you then create a new document , the default language for text boxes will be whatever you previously selected. When opening existing documents which still have US English as the default language for text-boxes, simply open the document and repeat steps 2 and 3 , making sure that no content is selected while you alter the Language settings.

Hi Mr. Dempsey; I have existing documents with Text Boxes created with English as the language. Dynamic spelling is the function that allows you to see errors as you write. As you work on your document, any typo will be underlined. This is a function we are all used to, as it is the default in all word processors. Therefore, I recommend that you set it as the default in InDesign as well. From here on out, the mistakes in your documents will be underlined in different colors.

These colors go according to the types of errors. Words that InDesign does not know or that contain errors are indicated with a red underline. Green, instead, it indicates what could be grammatical errors - it is up to you to decide whether to change this text. These, of course, are the default colors, but in the same panel you can change them freely.

This is also a feature that we know well, thanks to our phones. And personally, in the case of my iPhone, it's a very frustrating feature. For every message I write, I am terrified that it will correct me in the most absurd way, making me seem like an idiot. And looking like an idiot in my work is unacceptable. Because of this, I myself prefer not to use the InDesign autocorrect. Setting aside my personal fears, I still suggest that you refrain from using this feature if you want to have full control over your document.

Being a very advanced software, and not a phone, InDesign developed the autocorrect in a slightly different way. In fact, to avoid wrong or unnecessary adjustments, the autocorrect "fixes" only specific errors. So it will be clear by this point that my distrust of the autocorrect feature is perhaps exaggerated. It is a practical and useful function, which has nothing to do with my phone! As for me, I will still not use it, to have total control over my documents and corrections.
